PigWise transformed healthcare management for the client as it helped automate disease management as well as medication management. The end-to-end solution helped the caregivers and farmers manage and track swine healthcare data easily in real-time.
With more than 70 years of experience, Zoetis is currently the world’s largest producer and marketer of animal health products such as vaccinations and drugs. Starting off as a subsidiary of Pfizer, Zoetis is now an independent Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company specializing in veterinary medicine, generating annual revenues of nearly $8 million.
Owners of swine farms were using manual, paper-based systems and hence, they were facing utmost delays and difficulties in managing swine health and all related healthcare procedures.

In collaboration with the team at Zoetis, the design and development experts at Folio3 developed PigWise, a comprehensive swine health management software solution. The solution included a cross-platform mobile app for swine farm management and workers, and also a web-based admin dashboard for the farm owners and administrators. The mobile app allowed the caregivers to track, record, and manage swine health data as well as all related tasks and activities, while the admin application provides real-time updates from the field as well as analytical reports.
Our product development team went through an intensive digital discovery program to understand the needs of swine farm owners and the challenges they were facing with manual and paper-based processes so that they could build the perfect solution that catered to every minute requirement.
The team then went on to map the workflows and user journeys to build wireframes, so the client could understand the application before it was built and ask for any changes.
After getting the wireframes and clickable prototype approved by the client, our design and development teams went on to build the application as indicated by the storyboard and the wireframes.
We went on to run tests on the application to ensure perfect usability. We also got the application tested by actual users before launch so that they can give valuable feedback while the application, and finally launched PigWise.
The solution enables caregivers and farmworkers to record swine healthcare-related data directly from ranches and fields even when there is no internet connectivity in certain fields. The data automatically syncs when internet connectivity is available.
Data can get recorded and uploaded immediately onto the system and be available to the management and other stakeholders in real-time, which helps in quick decision-making.
The solution also provides a very efficient tracking system that helps the management track all the medication being used and whether the animals are getting approved dosages with the correct routes of administration.
An intuitive system helps record and analyze all kinds of information such as signs and symptoms of illnesses, treatment and drug dosage, healthcare outcomes, water consumption, and mortality rates.
The solution enables caregivers and workers to create treatment protocols and apply them across the farms. They can then track them to see which treatments are working better.
These include the ability to compare different treatments and their outcomes to arrive at conclusions that tell you which medicine and treatment plan is the most effective for the condition at hand.
